Sentences with und, oder, aber, denn

Check out the video to revise the most important information.

SUMMARY

The basic rule to make correct German sentences is to put the verb in the second position.
This is also true if you want to use the following conjunctions:

und (= and)
oder (= or)
aber (= but)
denn (= because)

You use them to connect sentences.
The single sentences Ich analysiere Daten. und Ich plane Projekte. can be connected like this:

Ich analysiere Daten und ich plane Projekte.

oder, aber, denn follow the same structure, i.e. they have position 0 in a connected sentence.
The verbs stay in position 2.

Ich skype mit Kunden oder ich schreibe E-Mails.
Der Termin ist wichtig , aber ich komme nicht.*
Ich organisiere Workshops , denn die Kunden haben viele Fragen.*

(* Always put a comma before aber and denn!)

TIP:
In sentences with und, oder, aber, identical subjects and verbs can be omitted. For example:

Ich analysiere Daten.
Ich plane Projekte.
Ich analysiere Daten und plane Projekte.

Ich plane die Präsentation.
Ich plane das Projekt.
Ich plane die Präsentation oder das Projekt.
